Our Potential
COMING SOON
DECEMBER 4 & 5, 2025
LifeWorld, Brooklyn, NY
“Our Potential” is a new ensemble work for five dancers that performs the sisterhood of self-optimization and self-dissolution. Through bodily research into psi-phenomena, we aim to demonstrate the uncanny relationship between capitalist games of self-improvement and the fate of inseparability.

Tree Hugger (2025)
Created by Nora Raine Thompson and Chloë Engel
Performed on August 9, 2025 at Wave Hill in the Bronx, NY
Two dancers respond, in performance, to a tree over one hundred years old. It is scarred with human carvings of declarations of love, requires regular medical care, and needs ample space. Two dancers research the origins, valences, and trappings of the term “tree hugger,” feeling into the problematics of loving a tree as if we are merged with it, as well as the problematics of loving a tree as if it is utterly separate from us. Two dancers who have been friends for over twenty years will dig into the choreography of embrace as a method of caring, clinging, holding, objectifying, and loving. Two dancers compete against their own limits to investigate “survivalism” as a trending way of confronting nature, asking us to consider how interactions with the nonhuman mimic relations between humans as failed attempts to understand. Do we need to hold on or let go? What is ethical connection on stolen land?
famously you squeeze me
A series of performances completed and shared between 2017-2019 born out of an obsessive writing, ranting, praying practice. Themes of ancestry, devotion, and the discovery of the auto-erotic thread and strangle this work.

Rubber
Rubber is a solo experimental performance practice that explores rubber as medium. I draw from my experience as a play therapist, the child of a psychiatric survivor, and a rubber enthusiast, to build a practice with rubber that engages questions of pleasure, pathology, queerness, and Madness.

The Organ
The Organ
A sci-fi portrait of a character with a pseudo-psychological disorder in desperate search of intimate connection. She wants a new imagination. Her's is broken. This piece devours the reality that we are always more than one and regurgitates it in story form. Supernatural, liguistically sparkling, she tears through herself in the attempt to understand her own aliveness and how it's connected to yours.
Choreography and performance: Chloë Engel
